Miwok Archeological Preserve of Marin

Since 1970, The Miwok Archeological Preserve of Marin (MAPOM) has been working to promote accurate knowledge of the Coast Miwok Indians, the first people of Marin and southern Sonoma counties. MAPOM was founded as a result of community involvement in the excavation of a Coast Miwok village site. Through a diverse range of programs and cooperative efforts, with groups such as the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria (Coast Miwoks), the Coast Miwok Tribal Council of Marin, and the Point Reyes National Seashore, MAPOM seeks to promote accurate knowledge of the Coast Miwok Indians.
